Cargo ship and barge collide in Corpus Christi harbour

A general cargo ship and barge collided in Corpus Christi inner harbour on Thursday evening.

The 14,359 dwt cargo ship, Ocean Freedom collided with moored barge belonging to Kirby Marine at 10-30pm on Thursday according to the US Coast Guard.

The cargo ship, managed by Crowley Technical Services, was carrying a cargo of steel at the time of the incident. The barge was not loaded.

One man was sent to hospital with a suspected knee injury. USCG said no pollution had been reported and the incident was under investigation.
