RINA Services classes Iranian vessels

RINA Services and the Asian Classification Society (ACS) have classified the first two 15,000 gt general cargo ships owned by Iranian shipping company IRISL.

The dual classification is the result of a partnership signed between RINA and and Tehran-based ACS following the lifting of sanctions in Iran. The partnership encompasses testing, inspection, classification and certification services in Iran.

“All classification societies are trying to enter the Iranian market,” said Andrea Di Bella, RINA Services Middle East area manager. “Our recent partnership with the ACS was a strategic move that has proved successful in expanding our local reach and classification expertise in the area.”
