The NYK Delphinus has been towed safely to the Port of Oakland following an engine fire.

The US Coast Guard said that the containership arrived a berth 22 in the Port of Oakland at 7pm on Monday.

Firefighting teams had boarded the vessel on 16 May evening and verified that the engine fire had been extinguished.

The 2007-built, Liberia-flag, NYK Delphinus, operating on Ocean Network Express’ (ONE) Atlantic 5 service experienced an engine fire on 14 May about 50 miles miles west off the coast of Monterey.

USCG said, “Marine surveyors and a marine chemist boarded the Delphinus Monday morning. The chemist determined spaces were safe for entry and the surveyors inspected the structural integrity of the vessel. The surveyors deemed the ship seaworthy.”

There were no reported injuries to the crew or pollution from the incident.
