The new service will connect APL services at the Caribbean transhipment hub of Kingston, Jamaica, and enable cargo movements between the Caribbean and Asia.

“The new IBX service is designed to facilitate growing imports to these important Caribbean markets; and cater to potential cargo traffic arising from the widened Panama Canal where Kingston is closely situated. Customers can expect to benefit from connectivity from Asia with competitive transit time and adequate capacity,” said Efrain Osorio, APL head of Latin America trade.

The first sailing of the IBX service is scheduled on 13 September 2016, calling the ports of Kingston, Rio Haina and San Juan.
