CMA CGM has assessed that the damages to Beirut terminal were less serious than expected, and a first CMA CGM vessel Nicolas Delmas has started operation on Monday.

“With immediate effect, all CMA CGM lines will resume their calls at Beirut port according to their normal schedules, and our intermodal services will be fully ensured in the country thanks to the mobilisation of our local staff and partners,” CMA CGM stated on Thursday.

The 4 August warehouse explosion at Beirut's port injured 6,000 people, left around 300,000 without inhabitable housing and destroyed a sizable part of the city.

Authorities have blamed the blast on a huge stockpile of ammonium nitrate stored for years at the port without safety measures.
