CMA CGM said the service would extend its ports coverage to Quelimane and Pemba, and will improve cabotage capacity in Mozambique, faster transit times from India, the Middle East, Europe and South America’s East Coast to Maputo and Beira, and direct connection between Mozambique and Durban.

The move typifies the increasing willingness for businesses in the shipping industry to invest in emerging Southern African markets, following the news recently of a number of offshore projects off Mozambique and a pipelaying project off Tanzania.

The feeder will further add to CMA CGM’s coverage of Mozambique, adding to the MOZEX and MASCAREIGNES services which already call there.
