Container line schedule reliability remained low in October with no line managing over 50% reliability and the lowest – Evergreen – just 13.6%.

Sea Intelligence’s latest Global Liner Report showed a marginal improvement in container line schedule reliability in October with 0.4% percentage point improvement to 34.4%. The report covers over 60 carriers on 34 different trades.

Across the year as a whole container line schedule reliability has sat at between 34% and 40% as lines continue to struggle with port congestion, supply chain disruption, and capacity issues. Year-on-year October schedule reliability fell 18%.

The most reliable line in October among the top 14 largest carriers was Maersk 46.4%, followed by subsidiary Hamburg Sud with 38.1%.

The line with the lowest schedule reliability was Evergreen standing at just 13.4% in October. The Taiwanese carrier was one of four lines with reliability below 20% in October.

Three lines had between 30% - 40% schedule reliability in October, and four between 20% - 30%.

Hans Nagtegaal, Director Containers Port of Rotterdam, recently highlighted an improvement of schedule reliability as key in helping improve the supply chain situation. However, lines blame their poor schedule reliability on congestion and delays at ports and on the landside supply chain.
