“After the negotiations of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) are concluded, the ASEAN countries, Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand are expected to remove trade barriers, enhancing bilateral trades and thereby boosting regional cargo growth,” explained second vice-chairman Bronson Hsieh. “Our decision to invest in these newbuildings is aimed at providing for the growth potential brought about by this free trade development.”

Expected to be delivered between Q2 2017 and H1 2018, the new B-type feeders feature a low 10 m draft, a design feature enabling them to call at some of the shallower ports throughout the ASEAN countries.

Further innovations include CSBC’s Sea-Sword Bow (SSB), enabling each ship to perform optimally in various navigational conditions and reduce fuel consumption by as much as 10%, as well as an electronically-controlled fuel injection engine, designed to meet IMO NOx Tier II requirements and reduce emissions up to 20%.
