Evergreen returns to profit in Q1

Taiwan’s container carrier Evergreen Marine has returned to the black in the first quarter ended 31 March 2015.

Net profit for the first quarter came up to TWD1.53m ($50,200) as against a loss of TWD1.69m, the Taipei-listed shipping firm said.

Revenue during the quarter improved slightly to TWD35.3m compared to TWD34.32m in the previous corresponding period.

In 2014, Evergreen reported a profit of TWD2.05bn as against a deficit of TWD2.04bn in the previous financial year.
