Hapag-Lloyd launching Cherry Express linking Chile with Asia

From 11 November Hapag-Lloyd it will start its annual Cherry Express service, which will link Valparaiso with Asian ports including Hong Kong, Shanghai and Busan, among others.

The shipping company explained that this is a service focused on the refrigerated transportation of cherries to Southeast Asia, with a fleet of 13,400-reefer containers.

The Cherry Express will connect Valparaiso, Chile, with Hong Kong in 22 days and with Shanghai in 27 days, being the most extensive special service in the market during the cherry season.

Along with this, it has "a complete network of feeders that guarantees the flexible delivery of its cherries to other destinations in Asia through Hong Kong".

Ten vessels will be deployed on the Cherry Express starting with the departure of the ship Cauquenes from Valparaiso on 11 November.
