He added that both ports, which are managed by JPA, recorded container volume of 9.2m teu in 2016.

“As at June 2017, cargo handling at the Pasir Gudang Port rose 5.4% to 423.493 teu from 401,721 teu over the same period last year,” he said, and although Port of Tanjung Pelepas saw a 4% decrease in volumes for the first half, Muhammad Razif was optimistic that the port would meet its target by year-end.

Port of Tanjung Pelepas handled 4.14m teu as at June 2017 compared with 4.31m teu over the same period last year.

“Going by the increasing trend in cargo handling at the port since April 2017, I am confident that the Tanjung Pelepas Port will meet its target by year-end,” he added.
