Maersk and NIO strengthen logistics cooperation

Container shipping line Maersk and Chinese electric automobile manufacturer NIO have inked agreement to deepen logistics co-operation.

“New energy vehicle market is expanding rapidly in overseas market, export of China-made smart electric car also needs high-quality logistics service. We are enhancing our collaboration with Maersk to optimise diversified industry chain and offer better services to our global clients,” said Lu Jianxiao, head of service operation of NIO.

Maersk have worked with NIO in several sectors in the half past year including large-size equipment shipping transportation and land services. 

The two parties will jointly develop domestic cargo distribution hub, order management, inventory management and global chain management and service for spare parts and battery storage in overseas market. 

“Signing of the agreement marks the cooperation between Maersk and NIO is entering into a new stage. We are establishing long-term partnership to support NIO build a complete logistics system,” said Wu Yunfan, head of Maersk Greater China M&A project. 

Established in 2014, NIO is engaged in research and manufacturing of smart electric-powered vehicle, providing sales and services for over 300 cities all over the world.
