The dual-fuel boxships will be 10,300 teu in capacity and are expected to be delivered from the second half of 2026 until 2027.

MSC had ordered ten LNG dual-fuelled 11,500 teu boxships from Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard earlier, which are expected to be delivered between 2025 and 2026.

Measuring in 299.95 metres long and 45.6 metres wide, the vessels designed by CIMC Ocean Engineering Design and Research Institute (CIMC ORIC), which will equip with the largest type-C LNG fuel storage tank,enabling the ships to complete a single round trip on China-Europe or China-US service.

Changhong has already inked 16 plus four newbuild orders this year, comprising of LR2 product tankers and LNG dual-fuelled containerships. The shipyard currently has 48 vessel orders on hand.

According to analyst Alphaliner prior to MSC’s latest order at Zhoushan Changhong it had 126 newbuildings on order with a total capacity of 1.55 million teu.
