Singapore-headquartered container line Ocean Network Express (ONE) is sponsoring the penguin habitat in the Lion City’s new bird park.

ONE is sponsoring the Penguin Cove at Singapore’s new Bird Paradise park in Mandai Reserve replacing the 52-year-old Jurong Bird Park, which closed early this year.

The Ocean Network Express Penguin Cove is a 3,000 sq m facility with two salt water acrylic tanks and a lighting setup that mimics the day and night cycles of the Sub-Antarctic Falkland Islands.

It is one of eight large walkthrough habitats in the 17 hectare nature park.

Jeremy Nixo, CEO of ONE attended a preview of Bird Paradise on 6 May visiting the Penguin Cove.

Nixon, CEO, Ocean Network Express said: “Through our sponsorship of the Ocean Network Express Penguin Cove, we are proud to support the Mandai Wildlife Group as they develop this unique integrated wildlife and nature destination. We expect Mandai Wildlife Reserve will not only attract the local community but also tourists to our shores. In addition, its world-class conservation practices, ethical and progressive biodiversity initiatives will serve as a benchmark for zoological institutions worldwide.”

Bird Paradise opened to the public on Monday.
