In an advisory note, ONE said that the suspension was due to “severe disruptions caused by the protests, port terminals operating close to full capacity, limited availability of road transportation resources as well as internet and banking services being shut.”
The company said it would strive to deliver shipments already en route, although delays may occur during transhipment and on arrival in Myanmar.
ONE comprises container lines K Line, MOL and NYK.
There have been protests in Myanmar since a military coup in February. Over 2,000 people have been arrested in connection with the protests, and over 200 have been killed by military and police forces, according to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) Burma.
