RCL building four container ships at Huangpu Wenchong

Feeder operator Regional Container Lines has ordered four 4,000 teu boxships from CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding at a total cost of $56.6 million.

The first ship is scheduled for delivery in Q1 2027.

The new container ships will use conventional fuels and reduce fuel consumption by 30-40% compared to other vessels and include shore power access. The newbuilds can be modified in the future to use alternative fuels and green energy.

Presently, Thai-listed RCL owns and operates 49 container vessels covering 69 destinations in Asia, India, India subcontinent and the Middle East.
