The port of Singapore has moved more containers in March compared to the same period of last year, according to preliminary estimates by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Last month, Singapore posted throughput of 3.16m teu, an increase of 3.6% compared to 3.05m teu recorded in March 2018, MPA data showed.

On a month-on-month comparison, March volumes were up by 15.3% compared to 2.74m teu posted in February this year.

In the first three months of 2019, Singapore registered a total throughput of 8.9m teu, stable compared to 8.86m teu in the same period of last year.
