Reclamation for Tuas Next Generation Port Phase 2 started on Thursday with the installation of the first caisson witnessed by Lam Pin Min, Senior Minister of State for Transport and Health. As with the first phase of the terminal giant concrete caissons are being used for land reclamation with a total of 227 caissons fabricated onsite.

Phase two of the terminal will add 21m teu to the mega-port project which is designed to handle all Singapore’s container operations by 2040 with a total capacity of 65m teu.

Senior Minister Lam said, “The installation of the first caisson for Phase 2 marks an important milestone in the development of the next-generation port at Tuas. Tuas Terminal will be digitalised and smart, and integrated with the wider supply chain network. This will be key to maintaining our position as a leading global hub port.”
