Two crew test positive for Covid-19 on US-flagged Hapag-Lloyd vessels

Seafarers from two US-flagged Hapag-Lloyd containerships have tested positive for Covid-19.

In an advisory to customers Hapag-Lloyd that one crew member from each of the Philadelphia Express and St Louis Express had tested positive for Covid-19. The US-flagged vessels are deployed on the line’s Atlantic Loop 3 (AL3) service.

“The mariners are quarantined and we are hoping for a speedy recovery. All other crew members on the vessel are being isolated, monitored and will be tested as well,” Hapag-Lloyd said.

“We are currently evaluating any potential impact on vessel and cargo operations and berthing dates for the subsequent ports of the rotation will be adjusted accordingly.”

The shipping line assured it was doing the utmost to safeguard the health and well being of seafarers during the Covid-19 pandemic.
