Taiwan’s regional carrier Wan Hai Lines has announced the acquisition of a pair of container carriers from Singapore’s Pacific International Lines (PIL).

In an announcement to the Taipei Exchange, Wan Hai said it will purchase the Wan Hai 805 and the Kota Panjang, both 11,923-teu in capacity and built in 2015, at a total price of $186.8m.

The latest purchase follows Wan Hai decision last month not to exercise options for four feeder vessels at China’s Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard/China Shipbuilding Trading Company.

The option was attached to Wan Hai’s firm order for twelve 2,038-teu boxships at the Chinese yard.
