X-Press Feeders launches second green methanol-powered route
The delivery of X-Press Feeders’ third methanol-powered ship has been marked with the expansion of its European network.
The new Green Baltic X-Press (GBX) service extends Europe’s first green methanol-powered feeder network, which launched in July with the Green Finland X-Press (GFX) service.
The launch comes on the arrival of the third of 14 dual-fuel methanol feeder vessels due for delivery to X-Press, each with a capacity of 1,206 teu. Eco-Umande will be based out of Rotterdam to use the port’s green methanol infrastructure and handling capabilities to bunker ISCC-certified green methanol.
Starting on August 23, GBX will serve the rotation Rotterdam - Antwerp-Bruges - Klaipeda - Riga - Rotterdam.
Francis Goh, Chief Operating Officer of X-Press Feeders, said: “The addition of Eco-Umande to our fleet underscores our commitment to innovation and decarbonisation in the maritime industry.
“X-Press Feeders is dedicated to being at the forefront of sustainable shipping, and the launch of the Green Baltic X-Press represents another step in our journey toward decarbonising the maritime industry,” added Goh.
