ZIM is chartering 13 containerships from Navios Maritime Partners in a $870m deal.

The deal comprises a mix of secondhand vessels and newbuildings. Five secondhand vessels of between 3,500 teu – 4,350 teu owned by Navios are due to be delivered to ZIM in the first and second quarters of this year for a periods of up to 4.5 years.

ZIM said it would be deploying the secondhand containerships across its global network.

The newbuilds are scheduled to be delivered during the third quarter of 2023 through the fourth quarter of 2024, and ZIM expects to deploy the vessels on trades between Asia and Africa.
