According to a statement by the Insurer, ship agents have suspended crew change services across the country, and crew change schedules are also being affected by transport disruptions in Port Said.

“We understand that in some places, (including Port Said) there may be some security escorts available (on various terms) on the road to Cairo,” the statement read. “Check with your local agent for such services out of other port cities, if you have personnel in Egypt that must be moved.”

The news comes in the wake of major unrest, during attempts to subdue protests by supporters of the ousted Mohammed Morsi, almost 900 have been killed in the last week, according to reports by the BBC.

Traffic volumes along the Suez Canal remain unhindered, however, with all ports along the route operational. Skuld has stated that security along the Suez Canal is “solid and visible” and is being maintained by Egypt’s Second and Third army.
