Becoming a member of ISWAN is the latest initiative by the Isle of Man-flag to support seafarer welfare, which include its ‘Crew Matters’ app available available to 8,000 seafarers on 300 vessels.

IOMSR director Cameron Mitchell said: “The Isle of Man Ship Registry is delighted to have been accepted by the Board and Trustees of the International Seafarers' Welfare & Assistance Network (ISWAN) as a member.”

“The Ship Registry and I look forward to collaborating with ISWAN to protect and secure a just future for shipping’s most important asset, our seafarers.”

Last year ISWAN helped 13,400 seafarers of 94 different nationalities.

ISWAN commented: “We are delighted to further our partnership with the Isle of Man Ship Registry, one of the world’s leading registers of ships and superyachts, by welcoming them to ISWAN's growing network of members.”

IOMSR plays an active role in industry organisations and joined Intercargo earlier this year and the Asian Shipowners Association late last year.
