Singapore: A seafarer is missing after an Indonesia coaster Budi Jasa 18 collided with a ferry and sank off Singapore early on Saturday morning.

The Indonesian-registered coaster collided with the ferry Sea Hawk in West Keppel Fairway at 06-25 hrs local time on Saturday. The coaster sank following the collision and five of its six crew were rescued.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said on Saturday morning was co-ordinating the search and rescue operation, involving two MPA and two Police Coast Guard craft and that divers had also been activated.

Eight out of 200 passengers onboard the ferry Sea Hawk bound for Pulau Bukom off Singapore were injured in the collision.

The MPA said they were investigating the incident.
