Pireaus Propeller Club online counselling programme for seafarers

Titled ‘Next - Working for the Future’ the Piraeus-based club says the “programme encapsulates our commitment to contribute to the future of the Greek maritime industry”.

“Our commitment is to honor and support the seafarers who are the lifeblood of this industry,” said the club’s directors in a combined statement.

Describing the COVID-19 pandemic as “a huge, non-discriminatory crisis” the club said “it affects and defines daily life, physical and mental health both on land and at sea”.

The innovative online experiential psychological counseling and coaching programme is, designed and performed by a specialised team in conjunction with Athens-based Potentia, a company which provides land-based psychological support and empowerment through live video to crew members at sea.

“We’re working for the future. But we’re working now by taking actions today in order to protect the future of Greek shipping. To support Greek shipping in its pioneering leading role in the global economy, making this nation proud” said the directors.

“Greek shipping is renowned for the quality of its people, their knowledge and skills. The people who make up our merchant fleet are the unsung heroes, those who have brought the Greek shipping industry to the top,” said the Piraeus Propeller Club.
