Search goes on for missing from barge capsize off Singapore

Search and rescue efforts continued on Monday for four seafarers still missing from the barge Heng Hong 168 that capsized off Singapore last week.

The barge capsized 3 nm west of Horsburgh Lighthouse on the morning 19 December, six crew were rescued from a liferaft on the same day while further seafarer was found adrift on Sunday.

The Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said the crew member rescued on Sunday was in hospital in Bintan, Indonesia for observation.

As of 1800hrs on 23 December search and rescue operations involved a total of two Super Puma helicopters from the Republic of Singapore Air Force, three patrol vessels from the Republic of Singapore Navy, three Police Coast Guard patrol craft, assets from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, the Royal Malaysian Navy and Indonesia’s Rescue Sub-centre Tanjung Pinang, divers and a diving support vessel from Resolve Salvage & Fire (Asia), and 155 passing commercial vessels.
