Stena Bulk ceo appeals to government leaders to help with releasing seafarers

The Swedish shipping company said Hanell has appealed to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on the release of 18 Indian seafarers amongst them.

Hanell has also made similar appeals to the leaders and Foreign Affairs Ministers of Russia, Latvia and the Philippines with the aim to resolve the situation.

The seafarers have been held on the vessel since 19 July, and Stena Bulk believes the pressures are growing on both crew and their families and that their immediate release is essential for their well-being.

The 2018-built, 49,683-dwt Stena Impero was seized by Iranian forces on 19 July during transit of the Strait of Hormuz while the vessel was in international waters.
