Tanjung Offshore boosts capability in oil and gas industry crew supply

Tanjung Offshore is broadening its scope in the oil and gas (O&G) industry, signing a deal with UK-based recruitment firm Fircroft Group to supply skilled contract workers for the O&G sector in Malaysia and overseas, local reports said.

The joint venture known as Fircroft Tanjung will supply around 300 skilled contract workers in its first year of operation and is expected to contribute up to 40% to Tanjung's revenue from 2017, said executive director Muhammad Sabri.

“We have a licence with Petroleum Nasional and hopefully, we can support all their projects,” he said, adding that it looking at manpower supply to both upstream and downstream sectors.

Tanjung is leveraging on the experience it has in talent recruitment from Tanjung Offshore Services unit, whose clients include Petronas, Talisman, and Murphy Oil.

Meanwhile on another issue, Muhammad commented on the ongoing controversy over its potential reverse takeover deal with Bourbon. He confirmed that the company has written to Ekuiti Nasional (Ekuinas) for a waiver of a non-compete clause which would effectively scupper the deal. He however declined to elaborate on Ekuinas' response.
