Three bodies identified as missing crew from the Thorco Cloud
Three bodies recovered near the wreck of the sunken Thorco Cloud have been identified as missing crew members.
The Thorco Cloud sank on the evening of 16 December 2015 when it collided with the chemical tanker Stolt Commitment in Indonesian waters in the Singapore Strait. Six crew members were rescued in the incident, while six were missing after the vessel went down.
Three bodies were recovered over the Christmas period close the wreck of the vessel, one of which was positively identified as one of the missing seafarers.
In an update on Monday Thorco Shipping said: “Today we can confirm that the two other ones recovered have likewise been identified as two of the initially six missing crew members.
“We are deeply saddened and want to express our sincere condolences to the families grieving the immeasurable loss they have suffered and likewise to the families still in a state of uncertainty.”
The company added that investigations into the incident and discussions of a possible salvage operation were ongoing.
