UMW Oil and Gas secures work for NAGA 5 rig

UMW Oil & Gas Corp (UMWOG) continues to see steady employment for its newbuilding rigs coming onstream, securing a $7m drilling contract from Nido Petroleum Philippine.

The contract, secured by UMWOG's UMW Standard Drilling unit is for a six-week job expected to commence next June. According to UMWOG the job is for the provision of a jack-up drilling rig to drill the Baragatan prospect on behalf of the SC 63 joint venture. UMWOG has allocated its latest newbuilding the UMW NAGA 5, which is being completed at KeppelFels, for the job.

“This first assignment for UMWOG’s newly built jack-up rig confirms our strong belief in an increasing demand for modern, high capability jack-up drilling rigs in this region,” said UMWOG president Rohaizad Darus.
