Taiwanese bulk carrier owner Wisdom Marine Group has formed a ship management joint venture with Synergy Group.
The joint venture Wisdom Synergy Ship Management (WSSM) will provide ship management services for Wisdom Marine’s bulk carrier fleet.
WSSM will be headquartered in Singapore with operational centres in Taiwan and India.
The joint venture follows a move in 2022 by London and Taiwan Stock Exchange-listed Wisdom Marine to put part of its fleet under management with Synergy laying the groundwork for the new partnership.
Wisdom Marine founder James Lan commented, “With WSSM, we embark on a transformative journey, leveraging Synergy’s expertise to enhance our fleet’s operational safety and efficiency, underscoring our commitment to sustainable practices and the well-being of our crew.”
According to Wisdom Marine’s website the company has a fleet of 153 vessels, including 16 newbuildings on order and has a pool of 2,600 seafarers. The company currently employs over 160 shore staff for the commercial and technical management 130-owned vessels and seven vessels under management.

With the growth of third party ship management joint ventures between major shipowners and managers have become increasingly popular.
