Cosco Shipping Group continues to expand fleet with an order for new bulk carriers order placed by its subsidiary Cosco Shipping Bulk.

Cosco Shipping Bulk has inked a contract for ten 82,000 dwt bulk carriers with Jiangsu Hantong Heavy Industry. The vessels will be charted to Chinese financial service provider Everbright Financial Leasing on a long-term contract upon delivery.

The signing of the contract will further promote the high-quality development of shipping industry and deepen cross-industry collaboration between the shipowner, shipyard and financial organisation, commented Cosco Shipping Bulk.

Cosco Shipping Bulk currently operates a bulker fleet of over 500 vessels.

In August, Cosco Shipping Development announced a series of 42 bulk carriers investment plans to construct twenty bulk carriers at Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry and another twenty-two at CSSC Chengxi Shipyard to significantly improve the fleet size.
