Don't make him angry - he's 'The Incredible Bulk'

Iron ore and dry freight markets are depressed, but it did not stop “The Incredible Bulk” taking centre stage at a reception as part of Singapore Exchange’s (SGX) Singapore Iron Ore Week held at the flower dome in the Gardens by the Bay on Wednesday evening. Perhaps he was angry over the state of the market?

The well-attended event that doubled as the SGX AsiaClear Awards Night and Singapore Iron Ore Forum reception started off somewhat oddly with guests dressed in their business attire being made to put on a wrist band that one would normally expect at a rock concert or a festival. What the purpose of these was we never actually ascertained.

Inside the venue guests could then have their photograph taken with the evening’s hero The Incredible Bulk. The cartoon character was rather obviously based on the Incredible Hulk, however, he was dark grey rather than green - apparently, and approriately, being made from iron ore and coal.

Later in the evening guests were treated to several short animated films on the Incredible Bulk, the first of which can be viewed here.

It was then of course onto the serious part of the evening – eating and drinking – which comprised buffet stalls with an array of local Singapore cusine, and some serious quantities of alcohol ranging from champagne to fiery Chinese spirit Mao Tai, a nod to the strong mainland Chinese presence among the guests.

When it was time to leave the door gift was also Incredible Bulk themed, with what looked like supplement bottles that claimed to be iron ore and coal. We are pleased to report they turned out to be neither, and were in fact rather nice chocolates. bulksupps.jpg
