Hoegh Osaka pumping operations start today

In a statement the UK's Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) said that salvors boarded the vessel this morning at 0830 to make preparations for the work to begin.

The operation will continue during daylight hours over the weekend, with the vessel's list constantly monitored. It is expected that the vessel's list should reduce as the water is taken off. Weather conditions have not improved sufficiently for divers to inspect the ship's hull.

The Hoegh Osaka is it anchor with a severe list, two miles form where she was ran aground deliberately on Saturday after developing the list soon after leaving the port of Southampton.
