With Clipper Group ceo Peter Norburg leaving the group to head up Swire Bulk the Danish Shipping company has promoted Amrit Peter Kalsi to the top role.

Clipper announced on Wednesday that Kalsi, who is the group’s coo, and head of chartering and operations at Clipper Bulk, would be taking over from Norburg who was leaving by mutual agreement.

“Peter Norborg has been instrumental in Clipper’s strategic re-focus on dry bulk and ro-ro with the strengthening of business platforms in both segments. We would like to express our gratitude to Peter and wish him all the best,” said Frank Gülnar Jensen, partner and chairman of Clipper.

On Thursday China Navigation Co (CNCo) announced that Norburg would taking up the role of ceo at Swire Bulk from the beginning of 2021.

Commenting on his new role Kalsi said: “I am truly excited about this opportunity as Clipper enters into a phase where we will approach markets more offensively. Benefiting from our cost-effective business platforms, we will pursue growth opportunities in dry bulk for both the pools, the chartered fleet, and owned vessels. At the same time, we will continue to develop the group’s ro-ro activities.”

Clipper Bulk operates a fleet of 75 handysize and supramax/ultramax vessels.
