Former Clipper ceo Norburg to take the helm at Swire Bulk

Former Clipper Group ceo Peter Norburg is to take the helm at China Navigation Co’s (CNCo) newly separated dry bulk shipping Swire Bulk.

CNCo announced on Thursday that Norburg would be taking up the role of ceo at Swire Bulk from 1 January 2021 when it becomes a standalone entity headquartered in Singapore.

Clipper announced on 30 September that Norburg would be leaving the company by mutual agreement having served as ceo of the Danish shipowner since 2016.

“We are delighted that Peter will be joining Swire Bulk as CEO. He brings a wealth of shipping experience and strategic leadership to the role. Peter will work closely with Rob Aarvold as General Manager of the operating business to help oversee Swire Bulk’s continued development as a high-quality global dry bulk business,” said Sam Swire chairman of CNCo.

Aarvold, commented, “Swire Bulk has grown rapidly over the last eight years and has built an experienced and high-performing team with over 100 employees across 9 offices around the world. It has a strong customer centric culture and an ability to build high-valued partnerships with tonnage providers, trading houses and our core industrial client base. I look forward to working with Peter as we continue to grow the business.”

Swire Bulk operates a fleet of up to 150 vessels predominantly in the handysize and supramax/ultramax sectors, and has eight handysize newbuilds on order.
