Sociedade Gestora de Terminais (Sogester) an APM Terminals joint venture in Angola has signed a 20-year concession to operate, maintain and develop the Port of Namibe in Southern Angola.
The Port of Namibe has a 480 m berth and a 274 m berth that handle both containers and general cargo. “The new port will significantly improve bulk handling capabilities,” APM Terminals said.
Namibe is located close to granite and marble mining areas.
“We look forward to creating higher levels of productivity, safety and efficiency to help grow Namibe and the broader regional market through a more competitive port”, said Richard Mitchell, managing director of Sogester.
Sogester is a terminal operator in the port of Luanda.
