The RSD Tug 2513, a development of the ASD Tug 3212, is leader of the new generation. Intended for harbour towage duties, it offers 70 tonne bollard pull in both push and pull mode using its safety-optimised ‘always bow first’ principle and patented Twin Fin skeg design.
Damen points out that Increased stability requirements are a “clear and necessary answer” to the increasing power and compactness of modern ship-handling tugs. The next generation vessels are laid out to comply with the new stability regulations, initiated by IACS as Harmonised Class rules and enforced by the IMO for adaptation in January 2020.
The tugs also offer good green credentials, incorporating a modular Marine NOx Reduction System to provide flexibility in compliance with newest environmental regulations as they gradually apply in different ports around the world, and are also geared towards smart shipping solutions by incorporation of a new Damen Digital Platform.
“The development of the next generation series has been about taking the best of our existing vessels and adding innovation to deliver a range of vessels fit for the future,” commented Damen product manager - tugs Dirk Degroote.
