DSM will design the complete mooring spread for the project, define operational procedures, mobilise and demobilise all equipment in both Norway and Egypt, pre-install anchors on site prior to rig arrival, and hook up the rig when it arrives in Egypt. The Bergen-based company will also provide all base operations and personnel for the mooring and hook-up work.
"This is the first time we've worked with Maersk Drilling and the first time we've undertaken operations in Egypt," commented Åge Straume, ceo of DSM. Once operational, Maersk Discoverer, will be capable of drilling to a depth of 10,000 m and will work on an Egyptian prospect for BP.
