Drydocks World signs LOI for world's largest jack-up rigs

The rigs, described as the world's largest jack-ups, will be able to provide accommodation, construction services and heavy lift support for hook-up and commissioning activities during installation of new topsides or of subsea structures.

Standing 185m in height and weighing 26,000 tonnes, the three-legged AJ 62-X 135 is designed to operate in waters up to 135m with a 25m air gap. Designers claim it will have 100% up-time in any weather conditions, unlike semi-submersible accommodation and construction rigs. The rig will be equipped with a 3000 ton Huismann crane for offshore heavy lifts, a large free working deck will full crane coverage, and a heli-deck.

"We have considerable experience in catering to the specialised requirements and exacting quality standards of the offshore oil & gas industry and have made deep and meaningful inroads into these rapidly evolving sectors in recent months," said Khamis Juma Buamim, chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World.
