Following the opening of the second of six planned berths, the G6 Alliance is set to start a new service tomorrow, the Pacific Atlantic (PA2) service. The service is based on a previous APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) and Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) New World Alliance route, previously calling at Felixstowe, but has now switched to London Gateway under the G6 Alliance.
Peter Ward, London Gateway commercial director, said: “We are very pleased to be welcoming the G6 to DP World London Gateway. It’s another milestone for the team. We are focused on delivering the best possible service for cargo owners and shippers and our connections are growing fast”.
Meanwhile other services to have commenced from the port include the South America West Coast (SAWC1) service, the Europe Pakistan India Consortium (EPIC) service, and a weekly service X-Press Feeders service to Dublin and Rotterdam, which DP World London Gateway port commercial manager Tabare Dominguez called “an important step forward to continue increasing the geographical coverage of London Gateway, in this case to connect DP World London Gateway directly with the Irish market.”
Rail carriers DB Schenker and Freightliner will serve the UK on inland routes.
When completed, the port will provide 2,700 m of quay, six deep-water berths of 17 m, 24 giant quay cranes and an annual capacity of 3.5m teu.
