Greek shipping to grind to a halt with more strikes planned
Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) has warned of a further 48-hour strike by Greece’s Seamen’s Union, expected to affect cargo discharging operations for vessels calling at Piraeus, Aspropyrgos, Eleusis, Pachi and Megara ports.

The strike, beginning at 0600 on 4 February and ending at 0600 on 6 February, is accompanied by a 12-hour strike by the Towage and Salvage Crew Union of Piraeus, from 06:00 on 4 February until 06:00 on 5 February, with a further 4 hour stoppage on 5 February.

Vessels will be unable to berth or discharge cargoes throughout the industrial action, part of a series of recent strikes in response to the Government’s planned changes to labour and insurance rights, pensions and retirement ages.
