Based on the PA6 B engine which has been built at St. Nazaire, France and sold by MAN D&T since the 1960s, the PA6 B OG is designed to be installed aboard semi-subs in sets of 8, both for main and emergency power supply.
With a power range between 4,440 and 7,400 kW, advantages of the engine include light weight, low noise and vibration, and a high shock and tilt resistance.
The group has altered the PA6 B design to meet IMO Tier II emissions regulations as standard, with the option for Tier III compliance using exhaust treatment, and has updated the range of turbochargers for the engine. MAN is also now using SaCoS 1, its engine-safety-and-control system.
