Palau approved for STCW White List

Palau International Ship Registry (PISR), flag administration of The Republic of Palau, has been recognised by the IMO as being in full compliance with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, affording it white list status under STCW Convention 1978.

“We have been working with the IMO on a number of issues and this white list approval is yet another example of how far we have come as a registry,” said PISR ceo Panos Kimidis, enhancing the flag’s “credibility as a responsible, technologically advanced and diligent ship registry.

PISR is now able to offer maritime training for seafarers on Palau-registered ships to “a uniform standard,” he continued. “Using our own IT designed applications and qualified staff we have been providing services for our fleet personnel for many years and this new approval will further enhance our training provisions.”

It claims to be one of the world’s leading ‘smart registries’ and the fastest-growing, its fleet having grown 43.2% since 2017 to reach the current 402 vessels of 3.1m gt. PISR’s Head Offices are located in Piraeus, Greece and in Houston, Texas offering 24-hour support to customers.
