Pioneering Spirit wins Black Sea pipeline contract

Pioneering Spirit wins Black Sea pipeline contract
The world’s largest construction vessel Pioneering Spirit has won a contract to install an offshore gas pipeline in the Black Sea.

South Stream Transport awarded the contract to Allseas Group, that owns the Pioneering Spirit, to lay the first line of the TurkStream offshore gas pipeline in the Black Sea.

The vessel lay 900km of pipeline on the seabed, and Allseas has an option for a second pipeline.

“The vessel, currently in the Alexiahaven in Rotterdam, is equipped with a double-joint factory, six welding stations for double joints and six coating stations,” Allseas said.

Work on laying the first line will start in the second half of 2017.
