Castelein has been employed at Shell since 1987, managing areas such as commerce, production and strategy, in locations such as Rotterdam, London, the Middle East and the Far East. His “exceptionally broad international experience in the petrochemical industry” was taken to be a useful asset to Rotterdam, as well as his “vast experience in complex, socially-sensitive dossiers”.
Hans Smits will be leaving the Port Authority in December, after a period of nine years.
