Ms Pilides attended a busy round of meetings, interviews and receptions, meeting amongst others European Commissioner of Transport Ms Violeta Bulc as well as the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Greek Minister of Shipping Panagiotis Kouroumplis.
Discussions with the Greek Ministers centred how the two nations would work together to constructively contribute to the EU and IMO’s efforts for a common regulatory approach for the maritime industry.
On Tuesday evening the Deputy Minister addressed an official reception hosted by Cyprus at the Athenaeum Intercontinental Athens Hotel (pictured), and on Wednesday afternoon she and the DMS (Deputy Ministry of Shipping) team welcomed friends and colleagues to their exhibition stand for a cocktail reception.
Separately, the Cyprus Shipping Chamber (CSC) also exhibited at Posidonia as part of the Cyprus pavilion. In response to increasing concerns by its Members and shipping industry in general, CSC marked the event by issuing updated cyber security documents – available on its website – in the form of case studies to raise awareness of cyber threats and provide guidance to on how these can best be avoided.
