Bourbon said a crisis cell had been raised for the vessel that was in transit around 1,200 nm from Martinique and 60 nm from the category 4 hurricane Lorenzo and had developed an ingress of water in the rear of the vessel.
The Regional Operational Center of Surveillance and Rescue (Cross) West Indies-Guyana had asked the bulk carrier SSI Excellent some 200 nm south of the Bourbon Rhode to divert course to rescue the vessel and its crew. The bulker is expected to arrive on Friday morning (local time).
