The OSV, to be the first UT 777-designed vessel, once built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries in Japan, will be deployed on various subsea operations in the North Sea, including top hole drilling, subsea construction and Inspection, and deepsea maintenance and repair work.
R-R will supply design and engineering services, as well as propulsion systems, including six generator sets and seven electric thrusters, control and automation systems, mooring and anchoring deck machinery and electric systems, including an enclosed Module Handling Tower to ensure safe working conditions while operating in extreme cold.
“This new design is based on many years of operating experience, especially from the vessel Island Wellserver which we designed in 2005,” said John Knudsen, R-R president of Offshore. “The UT 777 will be unlike anything seen before, and marks the latest chapter in the story of the Rolls-Royce UT Design vessels which have been pioneering oil and gas exploration for the past 40 years.”
